Meet the Artist

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Serena and I'm a university student and aspiring game developer from the US. As a digital artist with a special interest in the unsettling and uncanny, I set out to illustrate depictions of popular work while also branching out into my own unique creations. View my work on the home page or check out the linked social media accounts to get art and project updates.Like many others, my art journey started as a kid with encouragement from my parents. I enjoyed this art form a lot when I was young, an formed a life long hobby out of it. Once I was about 12 years old, I bought my first drawing tablet and began learning how to work digitally on Photoshop. I continued using both physical and digital media to create drawings until I hit 18 years old and really began to focus my efforts on digital work.I have always been pulled most toward portraits of people and only recently ventured into depictions of anything but people. A 2D Studio class I took at university as a part of my minor program (2D Art and Design) was the catalyst for this change. I've found that I really enjoy creating illustrations that are strange and make viewers ask "why" or "what does it mean". I don't know what it means, either, I just think it's fun!If you enjoy my work and want to support me financially, commissions are open and I have a tip jar via Ko-Fi! Both are dearly appreciated as I'm currently in the process of moving to Europe to finish out my Bachelor degree, and all money I make through my art goes directly towards saving for the big move.

Commissions

status: Open

For all professional and business-related work, please contact me directly through my standard contact form. For all other commissions, please read through the information below!I take all kinds of personal commissioned work, from custom tattoos, to fandom portraits, to something simply interesting to hang in your home. Because of the range in commission types, however, it's difficult to provide clear-cut pricing estimates on my site. Creating a custom tattoo design, for example, has a much different process both artistically and between myself and the client than painting a digital portrait of the client's D&D character. Please see my pricing page for very general price estimate ranges, and my guidelines page for information about the type of content I'm comfortable working with. For any questions, please first see my FAQ linked below. For any remaining questions, contact me through one of my socials, or fill out my standard contact form if social media is not an option for you.Once you're ready to begin, click the "Get Started" button below!

Commission Start Form

Include initial reference/example photos here. If request is accepted, I will ask for more!
You may also include a link to a folder of reference photos, or a Pinterest board of ideas.

Pricing

Complexity of the piece determines the price. Aspects such as the art style and rendering, whether shading and/or color is used, and whether a background is depicted can impact the complexity of the piece, and therefore can either increase or decrease pricing. Prices can also increase if speedy-delivery or something like multiple final versions is requested. It really all depends, and I'll never charge for giving a price estimate!Below are price ranges from A (cheapest) to E (most expensive) to help estimate prices, along with written examples and some of my artwork that falls within the given price range. After I review your commission request and learn as much as I can about what you're asking for, I'll assign your request to one of these ranges.

All prices are listed in USD.

A-Range (sketches, simple illustrations)

$20 to $50

B-Range (line-art, simple illustrations, small-scale color work)

$50 to $100

C-Range (detailed headshots, half-body portraits, landscapes)

$100 to $200

D-Range (full color full-body portraits, multiple characters)

$200 to $300

E-Range (full sleeve designs, complex scenes, highly rendered work)

$300+

Other Pricing Notes

To calculate price estimates for works featuring more than one subject, such as a couple, I determine how much the piece would as a single-subject work, then add 30%. Work including animals is treated the same way as an additional 15% per critter.
(Note: if the only subject in a piece is an animal, it does not take on this 15% additional cost -- it's only for each critter other than the main subject of the piece.)
Adult or NSFW content costs an additional 20%. This would be 20% of the total determined price, not 20% per character depicted.

Guidelines

Things I will do:

  • Environments, landscapes, or scenes

  • Any original or canon characters

  • NSFW for 18+ individuals

  • Horror/gore

  • Combat-type violence

  • Couples/duos

  • Families/groups

Note: All gender and sexual identities are welcome!

Things I will not do:

  • NSFW content for characters under 18 years old

  • Depictions of violence outside of canon-accurate combat

Feel free to ask about anything else if what you're looking for is not included here, or for further clarification! There's no harm in asking.

Commissions FAQ

If contacting me about a commission anywhere other than my commission start form, we will first have a discussion before I direct you to fill out the start form, or I'll create one for you! In this case, I'm only directing you to the form if we have both agreed on aspects of the commission, so your request through the form will automatically be accepted! If beginning the commission process by filling out the start form and without discussing with me first, I will review the request and either accept or decline. If I decline, I'll send a response saying why the request is declined. Otherwise, the process officially begins here! After thorough discussion of the commission itself, the terms of it, and cost information, a PDF of the terms for the piece and the process will be created (includes things like price, amount of revisions included, prospective delivery date, etc.). You are then added to my wait-list, and once I'm ready to start your commission I will reach out for the 50% payment if it hasn't already been sent.As I work on your piece, I keep you updated with WIP photos, asking for thoughts/changes along the way. The next 25% of the payment is required once a final sketch is decided upon!Revisions come in when significant changes to the piece are requested after the final sketch is approved and more detailed work has begun. Given how much I update clients during the process up, the need to use any of the included revisions should be pretty scarce.Once the final piece is done and you're happy with everything, the last remaining 25% of the payment is required before the final files are sent over.If you've allowed me to share the commission, it will be posted within the following week!My promises to you:- I will ask if you're okay with me sharing the completed work to my socials, or use it as examples for other commissions. This is always anonymous unless we discuss otherwise.
- I will ask if you're okay with me possibly adding the completed work to my professional portfolio.
- Comms are first-come-first-serve. I will not push your com back to work on someone else's.
- I will communicate often during the process to make sure everything is up to your expectations.
- I will send over a PDF of our agreed-upon terms before you submit any payment, just to ensure we're both on the same page before money gets involved!
What I ask of you:All I ask is that you're pleasant with me and follow my terms of use :)

Payments are taken through Ko-Fi or PayPal and can either be:

  • Paid 100% up front

  • Paid 50% up front, 50% after final sketch is approved

Refunds are available until the base-sketch is approved. No refunds will be given after this point, other than for outstanding circumstances. I will communicate with the client as I approach the completion of the base-sketch to give enough time to request a refund, if needed.

The purpose of revisions (and additional paid-for revisions) is to encourage clients to communicate with me during the process on what they do and don’t like, versus waiting until the end. Making changes once I’m at the end can often mean that I have to redo a large part of the linework process, compared to how little time it takes to edit something when earlier on in the process.I stay in touch through the process often so there should be much of a need for them. I send progress photos, especially when the client's character is meant to have different features than the references they send. Revisions come into play when I send the complete version and large changes are requested, despite not having been requested in prior communications.I will always tell the client when they're using one of their free revisions, as most other revisions are minor and simply part of the process.Amount of free revisions, and price per additional revision, depends on complexity of the commission and will be discussed prior to commission acceptance.

Personal circumstances, commission style type, complexity, and amount of total commissions will affect delivery time. Most will take 2-4 weeks maximum, and more specific estimates will be given on a case-by-case basis before the commission request is accepted!

When posting my work online, do not alter it (edit or draw over it) in any way without contacting me first!Additionally, if you choose to share my work online, the credit on the photo needs to be clearly visible. Removing my signature out of the final piece is not acceptable in any way.If you're creating an original post with my work (rather than reposting from one of my accounts), adding textual credit is preferred but not required as long as my in-piece credit is visible.Claiming my work to be your own, whether a commission or not, is not acceptable. If you see anyone breaking these rules, please contact me as soon as possible.
